Frances (writer, director, producer, and coordinator of the Playwrights Wing) joined The Group Rep with numerous directing credits in the LA area. Among the many playwrights whose work she has directed, she counts Lyle Kessler, Athol Fugard, Brian Friel, Maxwell Anderson, and Terence McNally.. At The Group Rep, she has directed THE PRIVATE LIFE of RICHARD WARREN, by Michael Vetrie, GOD OF VENGEANCE, by Sholem Asch, and her own THE BROTHEL, adapted from the Russian, The Pit, by Kuprin, and her one-act, THE FUR COAT from her collection of Jewish themed one-acts, MEMORIES, as well as many workshops. LCGRT has also produced her plays, WOMEN OF WORTH, adapted from Making Do by Jeane Westin, and CLOSETS. She is presently working on a collection of Jewish themed monologues. She obtained her BA from San Francisco State College and her teaching credential for English from USC. Various workshops, Lonny Chapman, Ken Rotcop and Paul Zindel have helped hone her writing. Frances Mizrahi is a member of the Dramatists Guild and the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights. Her full length plays have been adapted to the screen.
